Hailing from the city of Florianopolis, in the small state of Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil, is Willian Cardoso. This awesome 32-year old surfer is on his journey to earn his place in the elite ranks of surfing!
Willian had already showcased his talents in Bali, Indonesia – finishing his campaign as a quarterfinalist but this time, the Brazilian beat Julian Wilson in the final. “My heart is about to explode. After I got through my quarterfinal, I was feeling good and starting to think I could go all the way. I have worked so hard to get to this moment,” admitted Cardoso.
It was an early morning kick off in Bukit Peninsula, and marathoned all the way up until sunset. The World Surf League event was the first to be exclusively broadcasted on Facebook and the fourth contest of this season won by a Brazilian. “I had to be at my best today. I can’t believe I won. I beat Julian Wilson, Mikey Wright, and Filipe Toledo, and this is the best day of my life!”
Willian Cardoso had a Championship Tour experience back in 2015 as an injury replacement, and jumped 11 places on the leaderboard, from 16th to 5th!
